The key to prosperity

What if your accusers are the key to unlocking your future dreams & seeing the blessing of God? In Jeremiah 29, we read the famous verse about God knowing the plans He has for us, to prosper us & not harm us, but who is he writing to. He’s writing to people that have been taken into exile & are being held captive. Look at what he tells them in verses 4-7 that so often times we overlook;
This is what the Lord of Heaven’s Armies, the God of Israel, says to all the captives he has exiled to Babylon from Jerusalem: “Build homes, and plan to stay. Plant gardens, and eat the food they produce. Marry and have children. Then find spouses for them so that you may have many grandchildren. Multiply! Do not dwindle away! And work for the peace and prosperity of the city where I sent you into exile. Pray to the Lord for it, for its welfare will determine your welfare.” (Jeremiah 29:4-7 NLT)
Look at those last few words, pray to the Lord for it(them) for their (your accusers, captors,etc) are the key to your success down the road & having a right attitude towards them who do us wrong is crucial to our gaining success in the future. Maybe your boss, employers, landlord, creditor, ex-husband or wife is not the enemy but the key.
We all want God’s blessing & prosperity in our lives, but it comes about only through the ways he has laid out. Change your attitude towards them & see what God will do for you.

How long?

Have you ever felt like you were waiting for something that was never going to happen. Surely that how Joshua felt as he was waiting to go into the Promised Land. Only he and Caleb came back with the victory report that “we can posses the land” the others didn’t believe they could. Maybe you’ve been waiting for something from God for a long time, don’t give up. Your closer to your breakthrough then you ever have been. Stay true, dig in & don’t give up your promised land is coming.

Advancing with a “maybe”

1 Samuel 14; tells the story of Jonathan and his armor bearer going up to fight against an army much greater then the two of them alone. In verse 6 Jonathan leans over to his armor bearer and says, “Perhaps (maybe) the Lord will help us. A maybe is all the armor bearer had. Could you imagine risking your all on a maybe, a 50/50 shot, a perhaps? What faith and loyalty this armor had to exhibit, he didn’t say let me pray about it, or fast for a week, seek counsel or put a fleece out to God what he said to Jonathan is, “I’m with you heart and soul do what is in your heart.” the fighting must have been intense as two men killed twenty and produced fear in their enemy. How true for us as well that when we come together in unity we will see great victory. Remember it’s the unity of the spirit that will produce fear in your opponent and whether you are the armor bearer or the leader it show great courage on both parts and God will bless both individuals. Get connected to someone whom you can fight with, whose got your back and in whom you can trust completely and watch the enemy scatter in fear.
Thanks God for my armor bearers & the privilege of fighting with committed believers.

Kiss it goodbye, or cling to the unknown

In the book of Ruth we read the account of Naomi & her sister in law Ruth who lost their husbands and were hanging out with their mother in law (miracle). When Naomi told them to leave after the loss of their husbands, bur Ruth wouldn’t leave, instead she clung to her. Her sister in law kissed her goodbye. Then Ruth goes off and works in the field gleaning out in the heat all day. She gets recognized by the manager of the field, then receives a great reward for her faithfulness. What is it in your life you’ve kissed goodbye? Your dreams, hopes, plans and aspirations? Don’t do it! Stay faithful. To many people kiss their destiny goodbye because they can’t see any other way. Stepping out into the unknown is dangerous but in the end it may be your faithfulness that gets you noticed by your Boaz. God has his eye on you. You will make it! The gleaning day after day and the pain in your body and emotions may seem like to much but you can make it. Read through Ruth and see what happens when you hold to the unknown.

Come unto Me.

In Matthew 11 Jesus makes a radical statement in which he says, “Come unto me, all who are weary and heavy laden and I will give you rest.” a come to Jesus meeting,is what he’s talking about. Not the kind your momma talked about when you were in trouble, but a drop everything you’re doing and set some time aside for me and you to reconnect. To many times our prayers are petitions and we don’t simply come to rest our tired souls at the feet of our king. Maybe that’s you. Maybe your tired and weary of trying to do everything on your own, or like me your a bit of a control freak. Then do this. Set some time aside for a “Come to Jesus meeting” and find the rest needed for your soul. If I’m not mistaken, somewhere in the Bible it says we are to keep the sabbath. He wants to give you rest. Imagine what it would be like to experience HIS rest. You can.

Comfort or Courage?

What if the life Christ wants us lead to enjoy an “Epic” journey is simply based on our choices? What if He simply wants us to choose between being comfortable or risking and being courageous? Think about it, are the decisions you make based more on your comfort or the courage to go beyond your comfort zone. God is not asking you to step outside your comfort zone but annihilate it, making any decision He calls you to a sure thing. If God says “Go north,” then go north, if he says give this away, or do that, let’s do it. Don’t live in the comfort zone, live in the courage zone.

Worth

Today I was driving to Denver and noticed on the side of the road dozens of tow trucks and police, then I remembered that today is the funeral for a tow truck driver that was dragged to his death. As I went on a few more miles dozens more trucks with their lights on were coming down the freeway. As I thought about what they were doing I started to weep, because here these people were coming down for a man who they never met to honor his life they have never known. How much is a soul worth to God? What about us as believers, why do we not honor our fallen but attack and destroy them even more with our words and actions? People matter to God. All people! The next time you see someone who isn’t like you, remember they are a soul that Christ died for. They matter. Come to the rescue of hurting and fallen.. Thanks

What did you come to do?

As I sit here reading, praying and thinking about our church service tomorrow I’m reminded of that old quote, ” I don’t know what you came to do, but I came to praise the Lord.” I am thrilled about my future, how about you? Do you feel a sense of excitement for the future? If not why? God is no respector of persons, what He will do for me and others he will do for you to. You don’t have to go to church to be the church, make the decision right now, no matter what. It doesn’t matter what others say or do, I don’t know what you came to do, but I came to praise the Lord. Stop for a minute in whatever it is your doing and just give God some praise. It might just change you more than you know. Journeying together, John

The Roots of Revival

What if Azuza Street had not happened? What would be the
thrust of the modern day Pentecostal movement? Without the focus on
Power and the gifts where would we find ourselves stretching. What
if Revival isn’t so much about the power as it is the purity. Where
is a revival of purity? Where people are more interested in being
Christlike than doing Christlike things. Today I’m asking God to
show me the balance between power & purity, I long to see
the power of God in my life, but greater yet I desperately want to
be found pure in His sight. How about you?

Unrelenting love

Refusing to lose in 2011 This morning I’m sitting here
pondering the reason for which God gave us the cold virus? It
stinks! I also wondering why churches and leaders still haven’t
quite got the point that God is desperately in love with His kids
and radically jealous over them. If we really believed that we
would treat people better, showing them God’s amazing grace.
Tomorrow I take my family to Florida (a trip that couldn’t imagine
before financially) but God in His unrelenting love for this family
wants to show how much they matter to Him. Would you let Him show
you His love today in ways that might just blow you away. You are
the apple of your Father God’s eye.
